About Find and Replace
Find and replace is one of the most common text-editing operations. It lets you locate every occurrence of a word, phrase, or pattern and swap it out in a single step, which saves a great deal of manual editing.
The regular expression mode unlocks powerful pattern matching, so you can target things like digits, repeated whitespace, or text at the start of a line. When regex mode is on, you can also use capture groups such as $1 in the replacement field. To learn more, see the JavaScript RegExp Reference.
