About Roman Numerals
Roman numerals are a numeral system from ancient Rome that uses combinations of seven letters: I (1), V (5), X (10), L (50), C (100), D (500), and M (1000). Numbers are formed by adding values, with smaller symbols placed before larger ones to indicate subtraction, such as IV for 4 and IX for 9.
The standard system represents numbers from 1 to 3999. There is no symbol for zero and no native way to write larger numbers without overlines. Roman numerals are still used today for clock faces, book chapters, movie sequels, and copyright dates.
